About Luton Airport

London Luton Airport is the 7th largest airport in the UK. 6.5 million passengers used the airport in 2001. 78 per cent of passengers fly on scheduled services, 22 per cent on charter services. 72 per cent of passengers are on international flights, 28 per cent are on domestic flights.
London Luton Airport is 32 miles from central London by road.
The airport has a dedicated cargo terminal that handled 35,862 tonnes of cargo in 2001. London Luton Airport has an EU and MAFF approved airport border inspection post for livestock and handles numerous livestock and bloodstock flights. Some of the more unusual "freight" handled include 1000 sheep from New Zealand, 25 Cossack horses from the Ukraine and 470 Alpaca from Chile.

Airport Facilities
Babycare Room Special babycare rooms, equipped with changing tables, nappy dispensers and other essential equipment, provide comfort and privacy for passengers travelling with young babies.

Bureaux De Change
Money can now be exchanged online through Travelex via our Travel Offers section, or at one of the four Bureaux de Change outlets available throughout the terminal building. Thomas Cook offer currency exchange, BT phonecards and travel insurance.

Cash Point Machines
Barclaycard, Visa, Midland and Access Link cash machines are situated within the terminal building with points in both check in/arrivals areas as well as departures.

Domestic Departure Lounge
The mezzanine level Domestic Departure Lounge features a cafe bar and Fun Stop! amusement centre with games to cater for all ages. Lifts are available for disabled passengers. Fax, telephone, internet and e-mail facilities are available in the Domestic Departure Lounge.

Restaurants and Bars
Your choice of restaurants and bars in the check-in and departures areas includes Bewleys Express, Bar des Voyageurs, The Shakespeare Pub, Sbarro Pizza, Ritazza Coffee, Upper Crust, Covent Garden Soup Company, Burger King, KFC and The Mezza Café and Bar and who can resist a muffin or cookie from the newly opened Milles Cookies.

Telephones
Public telephones are available in the Check-in, Departure Lounge and Arrivals Hall. Phonecards can be purchased from the Thomas Cook Bureau de Change in the International Departure Lounge
